Luxembourg's official
national debate body

The Luxembourg National Debate Federation is the official body responsible for developing competitive academic debate in Luxembourg. Each year, we select and train a national team of talented secondary-school students to represent our country at the world's most prestigious debating championship β€” WSDC.

Our coaching staff includes experienced educators, former national team debaters, alumni of top international tournaments, and specialists in WSDC format. This is not ordinary coaching β€” this is world-class preparation, built specifically to give Luxembourg's students the best possible chance of competing with the strongest young thinkers on the planet.

Our mission is to make debate a core part of every student's education in Luxembourg β€” providing world-class training and accessible opportunities for all motivated learners.

The Olympics of debating

The World Schools Debating Championships has operated since 1988. Over seventy countries send only their absolute top students β€” young people who have proven themselves through rigorous national selection. Simply qualifying to attend places you among the strongest young thinkers on the planet.

70+ nations, one stage
Teams from every continent β€” Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, Oceania β€” competing on the same motions, judged by the same international panel. There is no other student competition like it in scope or prestige.
The highest level
WSDC alumni go on to Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and the world's top universities at disproportionate rates. They pursue careers in law, diplomacy, policy, and academia. The skills built here follow them everywhere.
Friends from everywhere
WSDC is not just a competition β€” it is one of the most genuinely international communities a young person can enter. Students form friendships across 70 countries that last decades. The network you build here is unlike anything else.
"

Widely regarded as the Olympics of debating β€” WSDC brings together national teams from over seventy countries, competing on the most pressing questions facing the world today.

Skills that go
far beyond debate

To compete at the World Schools level, students engage with global current affairs, advanced philosophy, fiscal policy, international law, and complex ethical questions β€” topics far beyond what most school curricula cover.

The programme develops your ability to build and prove arguments rigorously, speak persuasively under pressure, think critically in real time, and collaborate closely with teammates. These are skills that stay with you through university, career, and life.

  • Articulate complex ideas with precision and confidence
  • Engage deeply with global news and current affairs
  • Research and build complete arguments from scratch
  • Think on your feet and respond to unexpected challenges
  • Work as part of a high-performance team
  • Balance academic study with competitive preparation
